Communauté régionale de la Broye

The Coreb

Development and regional planning

The Regional Community of the Broye was formed in 1988. As a legally-recognised separate entity for public utilities mandated by the Vaud and Fribourg cantons, the inter-cantonal association of COREB groups the regional associations of the Vaud districts of Avenches, Payerne and Moudon with the Fribourg district of the Broye, as well as their respective deputies and prefectures.

The goals of COREB are the study and promotion of regional development and harmonious economic planning. To these ends, COREB accommodates the regional secretariat of the four district associations and engages itself, above all else, with the most significant missions in the economic sphere.

With the aim of favouring regional cohesion, the secretariats of the four district associations have been under the aegis of COREB since 2000. The regional secretariat favours the elaboration and implementation of a program for inter-cantonal regional development. It coordinates various activities and assures their follow through. It manages relationships and information with the cantonal and communal service groups, and provides support for the establishment of projects initiated by private partners. Within Vaud, it supplies help and advice for the presentation of projects with a particular emphasis on the legal obligations for regional development. The regional secretariat additionally plays a significant role in the preparation and communication of position statements during consultation procedures undertaken by the two cantons.

As per the new statutes that came into effect on the 1st January 2007, the organs of the association are:

• The General Assembly
• The Executive Committee
• The Management Team
• The Permanent Commissions
• The Auditing Commission
